About

Dr. Valeria Rivarola is a researcher at Instituto de Fisiología y Biofísica Bernardo Houssay and a physiology teacher at Facultad de Medicina (Medical School) of Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina. She has over 20 years of experience in cellular physiology.

Dr Rivarola has specialized in the research of pH homeostasis, its influence on several cellular functions, and how this environment facilitates the integration of the acidic cancer cell into malignant cell survival.

Moreover, Dr Rivarola has devoted her career to teaching physiology to medical students. She has put her vast knowledge of virtual technologies towards developing innovative ways of teaching physiology to ensure effective learning.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Rivarola participated in developing an entire physiology virtual course in just a one-week lapse. This allowed her students to continue their studies remotely during those challenging times.

Valeria’s motto is that physiology is a whole entity where everything is related. With this in mind, she has created a successful YouTube channel devoted to broadcasting the videos she makes to facilitate her students’ comprehension of complex physiology topics.

Dr Valeria Rivarola is an avid reader. When she is not researching or teaching she loves spending time reading or at art exhibitions.
